As over 2,400 properties across the world are now subscribed to the Planet Footprint subscription service, there are excellent opportunities for you to improve your organisation's environmental performance through networking. Further to our benchmarking service, we have now introduced a property profiling feature to help you build your environmental reputation among stakeholders and facilitate networking between the more than 170 organisations subscribed to the Planet Footprint service.

The Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) Program ended on 30 June 2009. As a result, many Councils are considering their options for how to continue with their energy and greenhouse programs.
Planet Footprint's Scorekeeping Service is a powerful way forward. Planet Footprint has discovered over $1.5M of unexplained increased consumption of electricity, gas and water amongst hundreds of the 51,000 energy and water accounts that it tracks. This has prompted us to ask that all of our clients make immediate use of their Organisation Anomaly Report to explain the anomalies and take corrective action.
Victorian Department of Education confirms Planet Footprint's continued scorekeeping for all Victorian Public Schools

The Victorian Department of Education has confirmed its intention to continue using Planet Footprint to monitor, benchmark and report on the energy performance of all Victorian public schools into 2009-2010. This is a continuation of the service first delivered by Planet Footprint in 2008-2009.

In its role as an independent environmental scorekeeper, Planet Footprint has devoted considerable time to understanding environmental reporting and compliance regimes, such as the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act (NGER) and Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS). Planet Footprint is also the custodian of a signficant amount of performance data that enables it to apply real insights into how these regimes impact organisations.
As a result, Planet Footprint has developed a Quick Guide for Australian local government to practically understand how NGER and CPRS applies to local councils.
Planet Footprint reaches 150 Councils nationally

Planet Footprint recently subscribed its 150th Australian Council to its Local Government Scorekeeping Service with the addition of Liverpool City Council and Glenorchy City Council. Planet Footprint now delivers its scorekeeping service to organisations in every state and territory of Australia. In Sydney, Planet Footprint's service is delivered to 36 of the 43 Councils contained within the metropolitan area.

Planet Footprint commences scorekeeping for all Tasmanian Local Government

Planet Footprint has been selected by the Local Government Association of Tasmania (LGAT), in partnership with the state government of Tasmania to provide ongoing monitoring, reporting and benchmarking services to Tasmanian local Councils. Planet Footprint will initially deliver its energy and greenhouse scorekeeping services to 23 Tasmanian Councils commencing in April 2009 with the development of baseline performance reports for the period 2005-2009. The Service forms the foundation for the Carbon Pollution Reduction Program being deployed to all Tasmanian Councils by LGAT (see LGAT press release).
Planet Footprint tracks energy performance of all Victorian public schools

Planet Footprint recently commenced work with the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) to deliver its monitoring, benchmarking and reporting services to all Victorian public schools. The project will initially see all 1600 Victorian public schools monitored and reported for electricity and gas performance by Planet Footprint, and will expand over the next 12 months to include high level performance benchmarking to senior DEECD staff. The project is the first in Australia to see an entire state school system consistently and rapidly monitored for energy performance.
New climate-based benchmarking for local government

Planet Footprint has released its new climate-based benchmarking to local government program clients. Client Councils currently receive reports that compare and benchmark their energy and greenhouse performance against other Planet Footprint Councils in their region, and across Australia. This new release will add a third benchmarking tier, where Councils will also be benchmarked against other Councils that share the same climate characteristics.

Following the success of its energy and water program, Planet Footprint recently extended its services to include full organisational greenhouse monitoring, reporting and benchmarking. The Planet Footprint Greenhouse Program is available to all government and private sector clients, and enables the greenhouse performance of any type of organisation to be reported and benchmarked on demand.
