Planet Footprint commences scorekeeping for all Tasmanian Local Government
Wednesday, 25 March 2009
Planet Footprint has been selected by the Local Government Association of Tasmania, in partnership with the state government of Tasmania to provide ongoing monitoring, reporting and benchmarking services to Tasmanian local Councils. Planet Footprint will initially deliver its energy and greenhouse scorekeeping services to 23 Tasmanian Councils commencing in April 2009 with the development of baseline performance reports for the period 2005-2009. The Service forms the foundation for the Carbon Pollution Reduction Program being deployed to all Tasmanian Councils by LGAT (see LGAT press release).
The project is a partnership between Planet Footprint and the Local Government Association of Tasmania. Each Council will have access to Planet Footprint's full local government scorekeeping service, including on demand reports and the ability to compare and benchmark performance of individual properties with those of other Councils nationally.
Councils will also be able to access Planet Footprint's national network of information on performance improvement actions that have been shown to work in peer organisations, for any Council facility.
The project is the first to see such a large number of local Councils monitored for energy and greenhouse performance consistently and continuously, and will enable Tasmanian local government to quickly focus resources on actions to improve performance.
